Welcome to www.WinSNMP.orgThe Windows SNMP API specification defines a programming interface for network management applications running on Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS X platforms, enabling those applications to make use of a logically external SNMP engine or service layer. The purpose of WinSNMP is to promote the development of SNMP-based network management applications running on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X platforms. WinSNMP provides a single interface to which application developers can program and multiple SNMP software vendors can conform. This specification thus defines the procedure calls, data types, data structures, and associated semantics to which an application developer can program and which an SNMP software vendor can implement. WinSNMP offers these major benefits, all intended to accelerate the development, dissemination, and use of SNMP network management applications:
MG-SOFT Corporation provided one of the first SNMPv3 implementations for Win32 platforms and took the initiative by designing extensions to the WinSNMP API specification in order to accommodate the SNMPv3 protocol features and with that gained the leading WinSNMP implementation supplier position in the industry. In March 2003, MG-SOFT extended the SNMPv3 engine so that the USM module supports also the CFB-AES-128 privacy protocol, as specified in RFC 3826. Today, all MG-SOFT's SNMP Development Kits as well as off-the-shelf network management products support SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 version of the SNMP protocol. MG-SOFT MIB Browser Professional Edition and SNMP MIB Query Manager support also the DOCSIS Diffie-Hellman key ignition algorithm (non USM), for seamless management access to the DOCSIS-based SNMP agents, like cable modems, cable modem termination systems, set-top boxes, etc. The feature will shortly be available also in Net Inspector.
